Die Stranger Funk kommt zurück in die Panke nach einer kurzen Winterpause. Und wie: Die erste Show in 2023 hat es Faustdick hinter den Ohren oder soll ich sagen auf den Plattentellern und den Fanfaren?

Neulich war ich wieder im „Club der polnischen Versager“, weil da Band mit 25 Leuten spielen sollte. Ich konnte es mir kaum vorstellen, wie so viele Leute in so einen kleinen Laden passen. Es hat super gepasst, und mir richtig gut gefallen. Also habe ich sie angesprochen und ich freue mich, dass es direkt geklappt hat: Die Fanfare Gertrude spielt einen mega funky Mix aus bekannten Hits aus Pop & Rock, Mitsingen ist erlaubt! Als Brass Orchestra haben sie nicht nur Moves und Styles drauf, sie beziehen auch das Publikum wunderbar mit in Ihre Performance ein. Die multikulturelle Truppe mit Mitgliedern aus der Bretagnie, Belgien, Polen und Toulouse hat sich 2016 zusammengefunden mit nur einer klaren Mission: Spaß an der Musik und die Leute gut unterhalten! Allein das Erlebnis eine so große Band live zu sehen ist schon wert genug vorbeizuschauen, wenn es aber auch noch qualitativ so stark und menschlich so nice ist, kann man nur sagen: Hereinspaziert, Fanfare Gertrude! An den Reglern besucht mich ein DJ-Powerduo, dass sich in den vergangenen Jahren einen ordentlichen Namen in den Berliner Clubs und Bars erspielt hat. Ob auf dem Kranich, bei der Schönen Party im Franz Club oder auf Festivals, Schall & Hauch aka Julian Boris und Walter Marinelli sind Freunde und Partner an den Decks. Ihr funky discotiziger Stil gefällt mir sehr gut und wird auch Euch wunderbar unterhalten. Funk, Disco, Afrobeat und Dancefloor Jazz und das alles von prall gefüllten USB-Sticks und Vinylscheiben. Die zwei sind wie siamesische Zwillinge an den Turntables und doch ganz einzig-artig und unter-schiedlich. Wir schwirren schon lange gemeinsam durch die Berliner Funk-Szene, treffen und sehen uns regelmäßig auch privat und auf Konzerten und umso mehr freue ich mich, dass die beiden nun (nachdem Julian schon als Booker J in 2021 und 2022 zu Gast hier war) endlich gemeinsam bei der Stranger Funk an den Reglern stehen.

So, ick bins, die Type die hier in der 1. Person schreibt. Ich finde es wichtig, dass ihr wisst, wer sich das Programm warum und überhaupt für Euch ausdenkt. Abende in Berlin gibt es 10.000 und gerade deswegen ist es mir wichtig jeden so zu gestalten, dass er Euch in Erinnerung bleibt. Dass wir eine unvergessliche Zeit haben, egal ob wir 8 Stunden oder 8 Minuten zusammenkommen. Ich bin Schallplattensammler, mache Comedy, Instaquark und schreibe gerne. DJ und Veranstalter sowieso und das seit nunmehr auch 20 Jahren, damn. Peace und bis Freitag.

FRANCOS PAIN flies us um die ears with an exciting solo setup through atmospheric post punk songs, far from rigid song structures, and still always catchy ~ KRESSE 3 bring us back down to earth of tatsachen with driving grooves and poetic lyrics, playing their first show since their sold out album release party this summer The safe landing, which might get pretty turbulent though~ WHISKER as final act takes us through eccentric prog and experimental rock worlds and are definitely the most nerven zerreibender act tonight ~ Come join us from 7pm, show starts at 8pm. Including an all-star global lineup, the sub frequencies are going down at Panke Culture, one of Berlin’s shining lights for underground bass. Music starts promptly at 23:00.
N-Type is an award winning DJ and founder of the record label Wheel & Deal, with a discography a mile long. He just celebrated 20 years on Rinse FM, as a standout mixologist and one of the best DJs in the genre. Author of Dubstep Allstars Vol.5 on Tempa, and his latest album Typography. Fast Forward to 2026 – and he will undoubtedly bring down the house at Panke. Expect lots of wheelies as this dubplate don takes the reins.
Joining N-Type on stage is the Bristol boy Slowie! With massive releases on Wheel & Deal, sfam, Foundation Audio and Durkle Disco. His latest collab with our mates Truth just hit the shelves on Deep, Dark & Dangerous. His own imprint Dee Oh 7 can be found leading the Grime charge on Bandcamp. Catch his recent performance on Red Bull Mic Flex, where he went toe to toe with our recent headliner Snowy.
Back for the third year in a row, DJ Squarewave is blowing the charts up with his latest gems on New World Audio. Most notably, he won “Best Alternative Act” in the UK Asian Music Awards back in the day. Currently he is the host of “Grime on the Canal,” a live-streamed set performed alongside Roll Deep’s Roachee directly from a boat deck in East London.
All the way from Grass Valley, California, BOGL is back for another round of Bassism glory. He & Tommy worked together on the very first Dubstep truck at Love Parade San Francisco. They also made the first and only Soundpieces event at IPSE in 2018. Between Los Angeles and the Bay Area, BOGL has kept the West Coast steeped in sub bass for over two decades.
Alyaz, a foundational figure in the Czech underground. He started Sapyen Records and heads up the X-Ray bass nights. This Mode Radio host has become a driving force in this collaboration. On Saturday after Panke, the gang will run it back at Fuchs2 in Prague.
Off the east coast of Africa, Mista Baptiste is globetrotting from Réunion Island to bring the sound of classic dub to Berlin. From his biggest releases on Moonshine with Sekkleman and Radikal Guru, and collabs with Zion Train, Jabbadub and Steel Alive.
Making her debut for Bassism, former curator of Berlin’s Grimelist, Scre_wy, originally from Napoli, will build the cinematic suspense early on. Her latest mix for Hundert Records explores the fringes of 140 bass, where her mix for Sub FM revolves in deep halftime territory.
Tommy handpicked Bassism crew mates VILIFY, Grzly Adams, DJ Quien and MC Do to round out this incredibly dynamic team-up. This is not just an accouterment of random friends on the lineup. These are top-tier musicians on the label making noise on a global scale. Every artist performing is a headliner in their own right.
