This showcase investigates some of the city’s recent DIY sub-scenes scouting for fringe creatives with a sense of absurd joy and a negation of the heavy-handed, pseudo-profound aggressiveness in recent cultural developments in Greece. Working in a city in an emotional turmoil, these young artists find refuge in creating their own self-reflexive modes of playful expression. At the core of their operation are serendipity, deconstruction, absurdism and irony. It is through those working methods that they arrive at an almost exhibitionist sketching of their own trauma within the new living conditions. This attitude is not a desperate call for sanity, but rather a celebration around the impossibility of such sanity in those times.
