Panke.gallery (Berlin) and JAUS (Los Angeles) are delighted to present “Metanatural Landscapes: Berlin – Los Angeles Connect” presenting works by artists Aram Bartholl, Petja Ivanova and Ioana Vreme Moser from Berlin, and Gil Kuno, Rebeca Méndez and Eric Vrymoed from Los Angeles.

The Metanatural Landscapes exhibition is not about nature or the landscape per se. Instead, this exhibition showcases divergent works with overt references to nature in an attempt to examine the filtered perception of nature rather than nature itself. Examples include a series of moving images of Icelandic sea and landscapes shot on grainy 16 mm film transferred to an intentionally glitchy video (Méndez), photographs of large scale color photographs of beaches situated within the context of a real tourist beach destination (Bartholl), a sound installation of leaves by Iona Vreme Moser or a cartoon-like owl sculpture perched on a tree branch constructed with the help of a CDC printer (Vrymoed). This exhibition will hopefully serve as an opportunity for visitors to contemplate and reflect upon how human awareness of nature and the landscape has been affected by the media, entertainment, and the internet, especially for the city dweller.

For our third and last party this year we’d like to welcome a bunch of international artists from the UK to Berlin.
This time it’s the producer trio Lokal from Manchester and Armenez from Falmouth/Cornwall.
Lokal: Over the past few years, you may have noticed the shear number of collabs released between High Demand and Enigma, and because of this, it only seemed right they should form into one, and so in fitting with their own label’s theme, Off-License Records, Lokal was born.
As a trio, they are planning on heading in a new direction musically, not only releasing DNB and 140s, but covering the full spectrum of underground bass music, leaving no genre unturned. So here’s to a new beginning, and in their own words, Keep It Lokal!
Armenez: Ar Menez translates to Of The Mountain or Mountain, the words coming from the old Celtic Breton language. This should give you a good idea of where Armenez derives his influences.
To name history, nature, folklore, myth and music would be to throw a small stone across a great chasm of inspiration.
Usually known for his deep basslines and mysterious worldly atmospheres that can conjure stories whilst combining those with dark chaotic sounds that infuse his music with life and ferocious energy.
With support from some established names such as Skeptical, Amoss, Arkaik, Cretures and Ill truth you can be assured that whether on a line up or release Armenez will deliver.

🎉 Get ready for an evening of excitement and engagement!
Introducing Game-Changers: The Game, a public storytelling board game that blurs the lines between reality and simulation. The stage is set for a clash between Capitalists and Commoners as they battle it out to seize the hottest buzzwords of the new economy. And that’s not all – enter the interactive audience, known as “peerticipants”, who have the power to shape the game’s outcome in real time.
In the game, two teams that embody seemingly opposite discursive poles – for example Capitalism vs. Commonism, Green Growth vs. Degrowth, or Vectoralists vs. the Hacker Class – compete in creating compelling storylines about transformation in order to lay claim to playing fields consisting of real-world “new economy” initiatives and related ideas.
To create these stories, the teams must use the Challenge and Intervention cards available to them at a given time or respond to the cards already linked to particular playing fields. Another, third set of cards, Wildcards, is composed of “external” events which can offer unique windows of opportunity for either team or skew the balance in a number of ways.
Audiences (peerticipants) evaluate the players’ storylines in real time and, in doing so, affect their chance of success. As a peerticipant, you also have the option to contribute prompt cards (prior to or during the event) for the players, making the game a dynamic knowledge commoning and scenario-building tool.
