Dear AUGB-members,
for the last meeting this year we have something special: We really look forward to welcome AJA who will do a workshop about field recordings and how to create ambient, drones and textures out of it.
AJA is using unsettling noise, distressed screams, hand made electronics and found objects pushed through pedals, herindustrial beats and distorted drone, combined with a psycho-visceral, intense performance, challenges the audience by breaking down barriers and pushing limits sonically and visually.
The workshop will be around how to make field recordings and create a wide range of different sounds and textures by only using simple, built in Ableton Plugins. Participants will learn to build ambient/drone/noise textures, experiment and discovering new sounds as a group through live demonstration. The workshop will also include:
> Open discussions about safe spaces
> Listening meditation
> Ableton Demonstration
> Unique Sample Packs created
> Live soundscape/track created
> Archive of costumes from LU LA LOOP and discussions in visuals and illustration and creating your own merch
AJA has taught across the UK and Europe at such institutions as Huddersfield University, Loughborough University, Confetti Music Institue, Fine Arts Institue (Vienna) and Teatro do Bolhão (Portugal) and has over 10 years experience in performing and writing music. She also has experience in teaching LGBTQ+ and female/non-binary focused workshops such as The End of Gender, Sounds Queer? and ITOUS.

The project prioritises women, girls, queers, trans, intersex and non-binary people but there’s no identity policy. Everyone is welcome but before coming think about how easy is it for you to get access to this kind of skills and tools? How easy is it for you to feel comfortable and safe at a workshop with strangers? Please bear in mind that you might be ask to give space to others at a workshop first.
