We are getting old!
5 years of cultural movement in Wedding, Berlin. We are proud to be here, we are proud to keep it alternative, out of mainstream, and keeping undeground culture alive.
And of course we celebrate this occasion like those 5 years is just the beginning of our trip. To make this festivity really special, we will have the birthday party exactly on the same date (Friday, February 26) as 5 years ago when the journey started, and we have invited the Jahtari crew back, who were the opening act at Panke!
For this session they have invited non other than the legend that is Speng Bond. A vital part of the UK Soundsystem scene since 1974 (!), he has worked with a long list of crews, including Quaker City and Jungleman Soundsystem from Birmingham as well as UB40 and Steel Pulse. More recently he has been recording heavy tunes with the likes of Kris Kemist,Mungo’s Hi Fi and MAFFI to name but a few, while at the same time touring the entire globe!
For his Berlin debut he teams up with old partner in crime DJ DRESSLA, representing the Jahtari Family Hifi. Having relocated to Tel Aviv recently, Dressla is still pushing the Digital Reggae to ever new frontiers. Together the duo has just returned from a tour in Mexico and keeps spreading the Rubadub vibe across the UK and Europe.
Taking this sound a step further, the Lion’s Den Posse has been responsible for some of the best Dub and Bass nights in Berlin. Equipped with enough exclusive tunes and two very talented and versatile MCs, the team never fails to portrait contemporary Dub music from all corners of the earth.
Warming up the session is veteran selector Tom Battery with his unique blend of Roots and Early 80s Reggae. To round off a great night of birthday festivities, we have employed the vocal support of Rawlph Dread, probably best known for his sweet Roots and Rubadub chanting withSandokan Hifi…
