Nyege Beats For Solidarity

Nyege Nyege and Panke present the second edition of Nyege Beats For Solidarity – a charity event series dedicated to supporting global solidarity projects. The night features performances by close friends of Panke and Nyege Nyege Festival and raises funds for two community projects in Uganda:

*Homeland Brass Band*

Founded by FloMoon of HHY & The Kampala Unit in 2015, Homeland Brass is a safe space for children to learn music while their parents – usually single mothers – have to be at work. The school band now features over 20 instruments, including marching drums and a full brass section. The students have progressed to the point where they are in demand for wedding functions, music festivals, and events. Usually Flo tries to cover all the school expenses providing school materials, clothes, advice and care, which is a lot to carry on her own.

*Te-Oteng Community Nursery & Primary School*

Te Oteng Community School is the first ever school to be established in the village of Anyomotwon, Gulu, Northern Uganda. The establishment of a school in the community that has been ravaged by 20 years of protracted war. The children face significant challenges in accessing education. The nearest primary school is a daunting five kilometers away, and to reach it, they must traverse through the bush, risking their safety every day. The children deserve access to education without having to embark on such dangerous journeys.

Entry is donation based.

The event is limited capacity – grab a free ticket on Resident Advisor to secure entry.
